Dalla Terra alla Luce — From Earth to Light

Two Englishmen, a small village above the Italian Riviera, a warm afternoon, and a shared beer. One had just fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning a vineyard. The other had finally found the time and space to dedicate himself entirely to his art.

What began as a conversation soon revealed something deeper: a shared commitment to preserving the traditions, culture and identity of this remarkable region, each through a different creative practice.

Gianan continues centuries of winemaking heritage, producing Ormeasco, Pigato and Sciac-Trà using methods carefully developed and passed down through generations. Flynn explores the same landscape through contemporary art, working with salvaged materials and discarded objects to reflect the labour, resilience and lives shaped by this terrain.

Dalla Terra alla Luce ("From Earth to Light") is the recurring theme throughout Kevin Flynn's work. Inspired by the unique landscape of western Liguria and the people whose lives have been carved from it, his sculptures transform forgotten materials into timeless forms that capture both the physical and spiritual essence of place.

From these serendipitous beginnings, entrepreneur and artist have developed a lasting partnership founded on shared cultural values. Together they celebrate the heritage of the region while inviting new audiences to discover, understand and appreciate its extraordinary character.

Through its patronage, Gianan offers dedicated spaces where Kevin Flynn presents curated installations that create a dialogue between the enduring traditions of the vineyard and the timeless language of contemporary art.
