A story rooted
in Time
In Liguria, farmers did not inherit easy land. They built it.
Stone by stone, terraces were carved into slopes too steep for any machine — what is still called, here, heroic agriculture. In 1303, a local edict required the cultivation of Ormeasco throughout the territory; the wine was already considered worth protecting by law. Seven centuries later, the same grape grows on the same terraces, picked by hand because the slope still allows nothing else.
“Perhaps the most spectacular and original vineyard landscape I have ever seen in my life”
Mario Soldati, writer - speaking on Pornassio
The new
Chapter
This transition is guided by continuity, not change
A quiet evolution — guided by respect for what came before, and a clear vision of what lies ahead.
Rooted in tradition, the estate continues to honor the knowledge accumulated over generations, while opening itself to a broader and more international perspective.
Gianan moves forward with intention: to elevate its expression, refine its presence, and share its products beyond its place of origin — without losing authenticity, craftsmanship, or its deep connection to the land.
